Pedalling Towards Empowerment
Education for All: Evening School
In the coastal fishing villages of Cox’s Bazar, many children, compelled by poverty or family circumstances like second marriages or parental loss, engage in fishing and dried fish industry work from as young as 6 to 7 years old. Recognizing the potential of education to uplift their future, Social Aid operates an informal school for 30 working children in Cox’s Bazar’s fishing communities. Classes are conducted in the afternoons and evenings, accommodating the children’s schedules after their daily work. The goal is to equip them with essential skills, break the cycle of poverty, and improve their socio-economic prospects.
Enhancing Education: Distribution of Education Materials
The “Educational Materials Distribution” project by Social Aid is an initiative that focuses on enhancing the learning experience for students by providing them with essential school materials. The project addresses a critical aspect of education by distributing a variety of supplies, including school bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, pencil boxes, erasers, and scales.
The initiative recognizes the financial challenges that many families face in meeting the educational needs of their children. By supplying these essential materials, the project aims to alleviate the economic burden on families, making it easier for students to participate fully in their education. Lack of access to basic school supplies can be a significant barrier to learning, and initiatives like these play a crucial role in breaking down those barriers.
